Galen Hatfield

Galen Hatfield is a recognized innovator and strategist, with a track record of success across the entire value stream of discovery → innovation → market launch → business incubation → portfolio optimization.

He has a unique perspective because he achieved this success while operating inside large, multinational corporations dependent on science & technology-based innovation in order to grow.

This point of view is critical to business incubation and entrepreneurial pursuits; especially in hard-tech/tough-tech/deep-tech type spaces such as clean energy, sustainability, engineered products and engineered materials where co-development and strategic alliances are at a premium for organic and inorganic growth.

His career has spanned multiple, highly diversified corporations including WR Grace/Cryovac/ Sealed Air; Millennium/Lyondell; Dow Chemical/Reichhold; Air Products; and Danaher. As a result, he has hands-on experience in an array of markets; from ballistic fibers to active ingredients in personal care.

A few technology commercialization examples include: Information Transfer Packaging™ (smart packaging), MaxBrite® (selective protein absorption for brewing), EcoActiv® (nanoparticles for pollution abatement), PolySaf® (antibacterial and anti-odor additives), and NLITe® (nanofibers for energy efficient lighting).

In addition to personally driving organic and inorganic growth, Galen has expertise in establishing innovation, technology commercialization and business incubation processes and has provided strategic advice to corporations, research institutions and government agencies.

Galen has held P&L accountability at ~$50M, led global organizations of ~150 professionals, and been an influential member of core leadership teams in businesses from zero revenue up to multibillion dollar global corporations. He is a global thinker with broad international experience and has led technology-driven business development and market entry efforts on 6 continents.

Outside of his professional life, Galen enjoys high adventures. Recent examples include hiking the famed Salkantay Pass and steer penning in Arizona. He is most proud of his two children; a USAF fighter pilot and an entrepreneur.
