NALA Systems Selected as Finalist for 2021 NC TECH Awards

Durham, NC [September 23, 2021] –

NALA Systems has been selected as a finalist for the NC TECH Awards Industry Driven - CleanTech award. The NC Tech Awards is North Carolina's only statewide technology awards program that recognizes innovation, growth and leadership in the tech sector and is presented by the NC TECH (North Carolina Technology Association).

NALA’s new membranes for desalination will reduce the cost and complexity of reverse osmosis operations and ultimately lead to increased adoption of critical energy-saving membrane technologies to support greater access to water for industry, agriculture, and personal use. Membrane based reverse osmosis is used to produce drinking water from salty water, but it is also valuable in industrial applications including concentrations, high purity water, and treating wastewater for disposal or reuse. Industries including food processing, Agtech, mining, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, textiles, and semiconductor manufacturing all utilize RO membranes and have specific needs for better RO membranes that vary but all include better chemical resistance and durability that NALA membranes will offer.

“For over 20 years, NC TECH has celebrated companies, organizations and individuals for outstanding achievement at the NC TECH Awards. As a finalist this year, NALA Systems has distinguished itself as one of the state’s innovative and emergent leaders,” stated Brooks Raiford, NC TECH’s President and CEO.

“We are honored to be selected as a finalist for the NC Tech Awards Industry Driven-CleanTech award. NALA’s innovative new membranes will expand access to clean water, reduce the carbon footprint of RO system operations, and reduce the environmental impact of chemical laden waste streams. The need for new water technologies has traditionally been overshadowed by the push to reduce greenhouse gas emissions but both missions are critical to curbing the impacts of climate change. So, thank you NC Tech for bringing water into the Cleantech conversation in North Carolina!”-Sue Mecham, CEO NALA Systems
