Lebone C. Moses is a strategic business executive, investor and advisor, who is passionate about empowering leaders to build stronger, more sustainable businesses. She has 20+ years of experience advising boards and c-suite leaders on strategic, sustainable business growth, including ten years in Big 4 public accounting and seven years with global financial services firms with a focus on risk, internal controls, compliance, cybersecurity, data privacy and data governance. Her career spans highly regulated industries, such as financial services, technology and healthcare, with companies ranging from Fortune 100 to startups. As the Founder and CEO of Chisara Ventures, Inc., she helps her clients strengthen their businesses through advising on organizational strategy, risk management and internal control advisory services.
Lebone has a track record of identifying, advising and investing resources in high-performing startups led by underrepresented founders. For over a decade, she has advised startup founders on organizational strategy, investor relations, financing options, valuation and leadership development. She also spent several years co-developing a VC fund focused on investing in African-American founders; and served as the fund’s Investment Committee Chair and a member of the Advisory Committee. An angel investor for over 10 years, she has focused her portfolio on women and entrepreneurs of color. Leveraging her passion for economic equity, she has co-founded multiple programs aimed at addressing wealth and equity gaps by equipping and empowering individuals, families and entrepreneurs with access to critical information and resources.
Alongside her client service career, she has 18 years of experience providing leadership and organizational development trainings within the Big 4 firms (during her 10-year tenure), as well as with SMBs, government agencies and non-profit organizations. This includes planning, building and leading development trainings and leadership development programs that have trained hundreds of professionals in topics such as leadership mindset, emotional intelligence, cultural intelligence, personal branding, and communications. Some of the organizations she has planned and led development sessions for during her career include the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the University City Science Center, PwC, EY, National Association of Black Accountants (NABA Boston Chapter), Community Health Coalition of Durham, and Brooklyn Perinatal Network.
A thought leader, she has served on non-profit boards for 20+ years and currently serves on the boards of Bentley University, Boston Uncornered, First Flight Venture Center, The Justice Theater Project and the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology Industry Advisory Board for Cybersecurity. She has also been a speaker at national and international business conferences and events hosted by industry leaders, including HLTH, InBIA, the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the National Academy of Medicine, the Angel Capital Association, Bentley University, Brown University, Duke University, the University City Science Center and First Flight Venture Center.
Lebone is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/US) and a certified Executive Coach, specializing in Taylor Protocols Core Values Index (CVI), which helps companies put the right people in the right seats, on purpose, and helps employees discover and understand innate, unchanging individual drivers that motivate them and optimize performance. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting Information Systems from Bentley University, an MBA from Babson College and business and investment certifications from Northwestern Kellogg (Risk Management), Babson College (Organizational Coaching), Bentley University (Executive Leadership), Duke University (Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center), Pipeline Angels (Angel Investing), Startup@BerkeleyLaw (VC University), the Independent Director’s Initiative (Private Board Readiness), and Santa Clara University Executive Center (Black Corporate Board Readiness).
