Project Description

North Carolina Central University School of Business, Summer Youth Business & Entrepreneurship Academy (SYBEA) is a unique opportunity for high school students to meet entrepreneurial leaders in the community and visit corporate enterprises that have reached global success.  The Academy is a non-residential 10-day program open to 20, high-achieving rising 10th and 11th grade students, with a B average or higher, from Durham and surrounding NC counties. Selected students receive business training and exposure to higher education on the campus of NCCU, along with a full scholarship to cover the cost of attendance plus materials.

Students participate in workshops and sessions designed to develop the appropriate tools and techniques required to have an enriching idea generation experience.  The program culminates with a team competition, each presenting a business plan derived from a new idea. A panel of judges from the business community evaluates the plan and a prize is awarded to the winning team.

First Flight Venture Center is a corporate sponsor.
